Our story began almost 200 years ago when Cyrus and James Clark made a slipper from sheepskin off-cuts. At the time it was ground-breaking; a combination of invention and craftsmanship that's remained at the heart of what we do. And whilst now, as always, every pair of our shoes begins with a last carved by hand from a single block of hornbeam, advanced construction techniques, technologies and contemporary materials help us deliver perfection tailor-made for the modern world.
With the help of technology, Clarks has become a global business. We depend on complex systems to take our iconic brand worldwide. Protecting IT on this scale is no small feat – which is why we need a skilled Security Specialist to tackle Assurance and Compliance. Every step begins with feeling inspired. Every step begins with Clarks.
This is a chance to support the security and continuity of Clarks’ global IT operations. Reporting on the performance of cybersecurity controls, checking compliance with key standards such as PCI and conducting risk assessments, you’ll also oversee our risk treatments and controls, building and improving frameworks wherever you can.
It’s important that stakeholders at all levels understand security risks and compliance. As our resident expert, you’ll see that responsibilities are mapped, controls agreed and that everyone is updated. Up to speed on emerging trends, you’ll bring the latest industry knowledge whilst helping to develop the Global IT Security strategic plan.
With the chance to deputise for the Head of IT Security, you’ll be free to hone your leadership skills. What’s more, you’ll be an ambassador, championing proportionate security across the organisation. With the opportunity to advise on new and interesting projects too, this role could be the perfect fit if you enjoy a challenge.
A bit about you
A highly organised manager working in IT security, risk or compliance, you have specialist knowledge of your subject area. You also have an industry-recognised advanced IT Security certificate (e.g. CISSP, CISM or equivalent), plus a broad understanding of IT infrastructure, ITIL, applications and systems development. This technical know-how is impressive – but you’ll need more than this to succeed. We’re also looking for strong communication skills and a gift for managing suppliers and projects and you’ll have a gift for spotting and treating key risks across a complex and distributed landscape. If you can also bring a clear strategic view, come and join our ever-evolving business.
Life with us
Every 60 seconds, 105 pairs of Clarks shoes are sold globally. That makes us a £1.6 billion business and a truly worldwide brand. We now have some 15,000 employees across 75 different countries. In the UK, we’ve been named one of the nation’s Top 25 Employers by Indeed. Despite being the world’s biggest everyday footwear brand (by sale volume), we’re still owned by the Clarks family and based in Street, Somerset – where the Clarks business began. Street is the nerve centre of our business, driving growth and the whole Clarks success story.
As well as development opportunities, pension and a competitive salary, you’ll also enjoy a variety of benefits. These range from 25 days’ holiday (plus bank holidays) to discounted healthcare. And, as everyone loves new shoes, you’ll also get a very healthy discount on our products.
