Senior IT Security Analyst / Engineer. Circa £50k – £55k + Bonus + Benefits Package. South Birmingham. T6/MN/17156.

Large professional organisation is seeking to secure an experienced Senior IT Security Analyst / Engineer. The role will sit within a designated Security team, which is part of a large IT team.

Purpose of the Role:

As a senior technical IT Security member you will be responsible for driving the delivery of secure IT infrastructure, services and applications, with the focus on protecting the organisation from the ever-evolving threat landscape. You will aid and help drive continual improvement of systems and services to keep ahead of the ever-changing threat landscape.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·Supervise day to day Security operations – will act as a second line within the IT Security team. Respond to escalated alerts from information security tools and the SOC – Security Operation Centre – and the incident/request ticketing system.

·Drive communication, containment and remediation activities

·Proactively respond to security incidents – follow up actions required to prevent or minimise recurrence

·Monitor various security threats and vulnerabilities – utilise news services for any relevant information that may impact installed services or infrastructure.

·Production of Management reports using and collating data from various sources.

·Provide ongoing technical management of the various security related monitoring and control systems.

·Run the ‘Vulnerability Management Program’ – Identify weaknesses and managed and implement mitigation

·Support security project work – across new services, mergers and acquisitions activity as well as new services

·Ensure auditable adherence to GDPR, ISO27001, PCI-DSS and other legislation / standards

Technical Skills & Experience:

·IT Security experience – at least 2 years

·IT industry experience – at least 5 years IT experience

·Experience in developing, documenting and maintaining security procedures and controls

·Knowledge of various security technologies, solutions and principles

·Analytical and methodical approach

Technical knowledge of tools such as (or equivalent):-

·Tenable Security Center / Nessus

·Sophos Anti-Virus / Central

·Cisco ISE, Firepower, Stealthwatch, Umbrella

·Microsoft Active Directory, SCCM, Intune

·Office 365 – Mail, Sharepoint, OneDrive


·LogRhythm SIEM

·Designing, implementing and upgrading Security software and solutions.

·Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

·Mentoring and supervising junior team members

·Comfortable working in a high-pressure environment

·Full UK Driving license


·Security related qualification – would be good but not essential

Working Hours:

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm (One-hour lunch).

There is a possibility that the role will be part of on-call rota – this has yet to be confirmed / structured.
