It draws on a bank of over 38,000 handwritten questions and 9,000 video tutorials to engage, motivate and support learners for their GCSEs and Key Stage 3. About the Role

We are looking for a Cyber Security Manager to manage, develop and promote effective cyber security at Sparx. You will be our subject matter expert on all aspects of cyber security, responsible for setting and implementing our policies, processes and guidelines for how Sparx manages cyber security across its platform, products, network and IT systems.

You will work collaboratively with all teams across Sparx, acting as a role model to best practice and educating and supporting others to ensure we maintain high standards of cyber security risk management across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

Take overall ownership for cyber security at Sparx across platforms, products and IT systems.
Chair and facilitate the Sparx security group meeting.
Own and maintain a cyber security risk log, ensuring that the different risks and threats across platform, products, network and IT systems are captured, assessed and mitigations captured and any actions completed.
Provide high quality and pragmatic advice and training on cyber security best practice to staff at all levels across Sparx.
Ensure completion of any cyber security risk assessments for new and existing systems and services.
Develop and maintain cyber security policies, processes and guidelines.
Respond to requests relating to cyber security enquiries raised by teachers, DPOs and senior management at the schools and multi-academy trusts with whom Sparx work.
Be the first point of contact in the event of a cyber security incident, coordinate response so that all incidents are managed and evaluated, and that steps are taken to lower future risk.
Keeping up-to-date with cyber security current awareness.

The specific skills and experiences we are looking for are:


Strong understanding and technical knowledge of cyber security.
At least 3 years experience within a cyber security role securing both product platforms and internal office environments.
Excellent knowledge of cyber security governance, management, processes and practices (e.g. Cyber Essentials Plus / ISO27001 / PCI / NIST).
Recognised cyber security qualifications.
Ability to review and identify any weak spots in our security infrastructure, practices and policies.
Strong analytical skills to be able to appraise and manage risk in a proportionate and commercial manner.
Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with the key stakeholders of all levels across Sparx.


Experience working in Google Cloud Platform and Apple environments.
Experience of cyber security management in the education sector.
An understanding of school data and systems.
